Cloth Simulation within the PROMETHEUS Real-Time Virtual Studio System

چکیده

The PROMETHEUS consortium consisted of UK companies and universities who aimed to develop an end-to-end content creation, broadcast and display system for digital 3D programming, based on the MPEG4 standard. This paper gives an overview of the project and details the real-time cloth simulation server developed within this architecture. Collision detection is performed between cloth and rigid bodies using distance fields. A fast algorithm is given for the generation of distance fields of quantized voxel surfaces based on Voronoi geometry. Real-time methods are then given for collision detection between the distance fields and virtual clothing.
